About GINSIX
Est. 1987 · Montmed, Inc.
GINSIX is a Korean herbal tonic made from six-year ginseng grown on Ganghwa Island, formulated by a physician who spent thirty-nine years deciding what belongs in it.
Most wellness brands start with a market opportunity and work backwards to a formula. This one started in a clinic in Korea in 1987, and the formula came first by about four decades.
The formulator
Dr. Chang Sun Chun has practised Korean traditional medicine since 1987, when he founded YakSan Clinic. Across thirty-nine years he has treated more than fifty thousand patients. He also founded TT Joint Clinic, and Omniherb, the herbal sourcing company that supplies GINSIX its raw material.
That last detail is the one that matters most. Ingredient sourcing at GINSIX is not a procurement decision made on price by someone who has never treated a patient. It is a clinical decision made by the person who spent four decades watching what worked, using a supply chain he built himself.

The founder
Ji Young Chun is Dr. Chun's daughter, and the founder and chief executive of Montmed, Inc. She spent her career as a software engineer, at Disney and at Peloton, before deciding that the thing her father had spent a lifetime making should exist outside his clinic.
She does not formulate. That is deliberate, and it is stated plainly here because the distinction is the point. Her father decides what goes in the bottle. She decides how it reaches you.
Ganghwa Island
Ganghwa is a tidal island off the coast of Incheon. Its soil has been shaped over centuries by tidal deposition, leaving it mineral dense, and the combination of temperature range, humidity and soil composition there produces ginseng with a distinct profile compared to other Korean growing regions.
Korean farmers and practitioners have treated Ganghwa as a premium origin for generations. It is terroir in the ordinary sense, the same reason two vineyards twenty kilometres apart make different wine from the same grape.
Why six years
Panax ginseng is slow. It produces little meaningful root mass in its first year, and spends years two through six building structure and synthesising the saponin compounds that make it worth growing at all. Ginsenoside concentration rises with root age and peaks around year six, before the root begins to decline.
Six years is the traditional harvest standard in Korean medicine for that reason. It is also the expensive way to do it, which is why most commercial ginseng is harvested at three or four years, and why almost no label tells you the age.
Ours does. That is what the six refers to.
What we make
GINSIX Morning Ritual is an 80mL ready to drink herbal tonic. Alongside six-year Ganghwa ginseng it contains ginger, kudzu, licorice, tangerine peel and malt, the same botanicals Dr. Chun worked with in clinic. It contains no artificial additives and no preservatives.
A traditional Korean decoction takes hours to prepare. This is that preparation, already done, in a format that fits a morning.
How we talk about it
Every claim GINSIX makes is traceable to an ingredient, an origin, or a clinician. We name the root age. We name the island. We name the physician and the year he started.
We do not tell you how you will feel. Nobody honest can, and the brands that do are describing a hope rather than a formula. What we can tell you is exactly what is in the bottle, and exactly who decided it should be there.
